Shhh! It's a soft launch for The Pearson Room

Food aside (we’ll come on to that), The Pearson Room has some good credentials. Firstly it’s located in Canary Wharf – captive audience, tick. Secondly it’s designed by the people behind Bubbledogs and Le Gavroche’s bar – style, tick. Now for the food, after all, that’s what you go there for! Head Chef is Vagner Matos (previously at The Swan, Shoreditch and Cecconi’s) who creates a menu focusing on sharing platters with dishes such as fish tacos with chipotle aioli, queenies and a buttermilk fried chicken burger all featuring. There's a Pearson Burger too, which offers tobacco onions, pulled pork or wild boar bacon as optional extras.  Gourmet twists on everyday dishes such as lobster mac'n cheese, steaks, pies and a meat board also put in an appearance.

A Little Bit of Toast

Popping Up for Spring

Pop up Gin Palace in Covent Garden

Head to Floral Street in Covent Garden on 27th & 28th March for a two day Gin Palace, with famous mixologists, and even an appearance by Stringer Bell himself, Mr Idris Elba, featuring Tanqueray Gin.  It's popping up in the old Aubin & Wills store  and entry is open to the public on Wednesday and Thursday - but given that it's quite a small space be early or be prepared to queue...

Bo London will open its doors on Thursday 6th December 2012.  Located in Mill Street in Mayfair, the restaurant will feature the “X-Treme” Chinese cuisine of chef patron Alvin Leung from 2 Michelin starred Bo Innovation in Hong Kong. Trishna Launch New Game Menu

April Bloomfield Comes to London

Cafe Anglais hosts collaborative diners with real foodies

Six of Britain’s most prominent chefs and food writers will be joining Rowley Leigh in his kitchen at Le Café Anglais for ‘Cooking with Rowley’ - a series of one-off, collaborative dinners. Taking part in Cooking with Rowley over the coming months will be: Tom Parker Bowles (food writer, broadcaster and columnist with the Mail on Sunday); James Ramsden (food writer and author), Florence Knight (head chef of Polpetto), Lucas Hollweg (food writer, author and columnist with Sunday Times Style), Rose Prince (food writer, author and columnist with the Daily Telegraph) and Gizzi Erskine (chef, broadcaster and author). Every menu will be unique, with Rowley and each guest chef working together to design a dinner that reflects both their cooking styles, backgrounds and particular passions.

Exmouth Market Caravan opens Second Site

Caravan is due to open a second site in Kings Cross in July, following the success of founders Miles Kirby (formerly head chef of The Providores) and Chris Ammermann’s first venture on Exmouth Market. Caravan Kings Cross will be located in the Grade II-listed Granary Building, which is part of the extensive 67-acre development site between King’s Cross Station and St Pancras International. The regeneration of the former grain store, which dates back to 1851, received the Mayor’s Award for Planning Excellence in January 2012.

The Draft House crosses the river to Fitzrovia

Charlie McVeigh’s Draft House has finally crossed the river, securing a fifth site on the smoking hot corner of Charlotte Street & Goodge Street. The former Northumberland Arms, at 43 Goodge Street W1, has been watering Fitzrovians since the early 1800s. The Draft House will open in July and aims to continue that tradition, dispensing the very finest cask and keg beers, accompanied by established Draft House classics such as foot-long scratchings and hamburger specials The Yolk, The Smoke and The Poke.
